Brethren - tom&co's first album, is now available on cdbaby. Recorded in 1999 at the historic Phoenix (formerly known as Capricorn) studios, it has the best tunes tom&co invented in the 5 years they had existed up to that time. Yes, it was cool recording where the Allman Brothers had recorded. TRACK LIST: Brethren We Have Met: Real heavy on the edgy guitar, with a full kybd Background. Lots of cool panning and an unusual middle section - ear candy! Joyful, Joyful: The tune written by Beethoven - new agey and calm. As the Deer: Still a popular chorus after all these years - bet you've never heard it this uptempo! Holy Holy: Used to be #1 in the Baptist hymnbook. Take a deep breath an reflect on the lyrics while you listen. This is My Father's Jungle: Possibly the first time this tune has been played using an African instrument shaped like a turtle. JoyfulJoyfulJoyfulJoyful: Yep, the same Beethoven tune - but in 5! This started out as a piano/handbell piece, and morphed into something for tom&co to play. Jesus Loves Me: a bit o' rock, a bit o' jazz, a lot of tom&co.

What's the deal with the cover? ?
The whole idea of the band has been to take what are considered traditional tunes, and freshen them up - do some unusual things with them. The cover is a still life blending the old (hymnals and such) and the new (the gear, tuner, pedalboard controller). Larry the Cucumber is making a guest appearance from VeggieTales, because he is our unofficial mascot (and the official scapegoat when something goes wrong).
The chart at the bottom left is the actual chart from one of the tunes. The photos at the top left, covering up the white hymnal, are the test shots taken to get the exposure and layout right.
